Other Names: 90-degree elbow, right-angle bend, elbow bend, etc.

Purpose: Used to connect two pipes of the same nominal diameter, enabling a 90-degree turn in the pipeline. Classified by material: carbon steel elbow, cast steel elbow, alloy steel elbow, stainless steel elbow, copper elbow, aluminum alloy elbow, etc. Classified by manufacturing method: push-formed elbow, stamped elbow, forged elbow, cast elbow, etc. Classified by manufacturing standards: national standard, electrical standard, water standard, American standard, German standard, Japanese standard, Russian standard, etc. Of course, processing pipes into 30° elbow fittings generally refers to metal pipes used in water and electrical specialties and PVC electrical conduit pipes. Thus, there are many types of elbows, and orders are often expressed as follows: e.g., "LR STD 90° 8" indicates a long radius, pressure rating STD, 90° 8" elbow; another example, "SR XS 45° 4" indicates a short radius, pressure rating XS, 45° 4" elbow. The above is a general classification of elbows.

30° Elbow Fittings: Mostly refer to metal elbows used in water supply and drainage specialties. Small-diameter elbows can be obtained through bending. In pipeline engineering, elbow flanges are mainly used for pipe connections. For pipes that need to be connected, a flange is installed on each end. Low-pressure pipelines can use threaded flanges, while those with pressures above 4 kg use welded flanges. A seal is placed between the two flanges and then fastened with bolts. Flanges for different pressures have different thicknesses and use different bolts.

Cold Bending, Hot Bending: Generally, small and medium-diameter elbows can be obtained through cold bending; large-diameter elbows require hot bending. Bending processing usually refers to on-site completion.

Stamped Elbow: Most elbows used in engineering water systems (especially large-diameter ones) can be purchased as finished products. The processing method is stamping, ensuring consistent product quality.

Push-Formed Elbow: In the late 1980s, a process using machinery + mold inner core + medium-frequency heating to push-form steel elbows was encountered. However, it was later found that controlling the wall thickness on the inner and outer sides was difficult, so it saw limited practical application.

Classification of 30° Elbow Fittings: Based on the radius of curvature, they can be divided into long-radius elbows and short-radius elbows. A long-radius elbow has a radius of curvature equal to 1.5 times the outer diameter of the pipe, i.e., R = 1.5D. A short-radius elbow has a radius of curvature equal to the outer diameter of the pipe, i.e., R = D. In the formula, D is the elbow diameter, and R is the radius of curvature. Classified by pressure rating, there are approximately seventeen types, the same as American pipe standards: Sch5s, Sch10s, Sch10, Sch20, Sch30, Sch40s, STD, Sch40, Sch60, Sch80s, XS; Sch80, Sch100, Sch120, Sch140, Sch160, XXS. The most commonly used are STD and XS. Classified by elbow angle, there are 45° elbows, 90° elbows, and 180° elbows.
